Dr. Pruitt was born in Providence, Rhode Island and was raised on a horse farm in Connecticut. Dr. Pruitt started getting spinal adjustments after he hurt his low back while serving in the United States Air Force. Not only did his low back and leg pain get better with chiropractic, but so did his headaches and other health conditions! When asked why he became a chiropractor, he said “...I felt so much better mentally and physically... everything was feeling and working better…I knew that I had to become a chiropractor after getting the results and I had to help others the same way.”
Dr. Pruitt graduated from Palmer College of Chiropractic - Iowa in 1999 and opened a chiropractic office in Middletown, RI that same year. There, he adjusted families and visitors of Newport County for 22 years! “I always thought of our office as a community based chiropractic office. We served our community by organizing beach clean-ups, coat and glove drives, food drives, toy drives, school supply drives and other community based programs. Our office mostly had up to 5 generations of families getting their spine and nervous system adjusted - grandparents, moms, dads, kids and even infants. “We focused on helping them with both pain and wellness. It has always amazed me how consistent chiropractic care can help with all sorts of conditions, no matter what age people are.”, Dr. Pruitt said when The Joint asked him how he liked to practice. The Joint is a perfect match!
What Dr. Pruitt loves the most, is spending time with his wife and son and feeding family and friends. His other interests include fishing, surfing, fitness, cooking and growing food, finances, camping, music and “…just trying new stuff”.
My very first visit to the Chiropractor was as a result of an injury sustained at work. I was working in the mailroom of a large corporation and hurt my back lifting a box one eventful afternoon. The pain left me in agony for over 3 weeks. I went to one doctor after another in the "Worker's Compensation" circle. I was getting no relief and there was talk of surgery. It was then that a friend of mine mentioned chiropractic. I was intrigued so I inquired about chiropractic care as part of my rehab, but was met with stern warnings. I was told that if I didn't follow the treatment regimen or sought care outside of the worker's comp umbrella, my claims would become void and that I would be responsible for my care. My fear of surgery led me underground so to speak. Unbeknownst to the workers comp doctors, I sought chiropractic care through my friend's chiropractor. This was unlike any experience I had ever had in a doctor's office before. Within just a few adjustments, I was back on my feet and back at work. I learned that Chiropractors are very skilled and knowledgeable doctors who are trained in many areas. learned that not only do Chiropractors help with back and neck injuries, but they truly care about their patients' problems. But most of all, I realized how much I had been helped by the Chiropractor and how I couldn't wait to help people in the same way, so I became a Chiropractor myself!
I was accepted to attend the prestigious Life University ofChiropractic in Atlanta. During my 4 years at Life University, I learned the only limitations that we have are those that we accept or believe. Upon graduation from Life University, I started my career as a Chiropractor in the Atlanta area. A few years out of school, I opened a practice in Eastman, GA where I served a large population of Middle Georgia for over 11 years. During that time our office treated over 6,000 new patients. In 2010 I moved back to the Atlanta area to be closer to my son and family. Iam now in my 28th year of practice. I have recently embarked on a new chapter in life. Due to my father's failing health, I have moved down to Florida to help take care of him. With over 10 years of experience with The Joint Chiropractic, I look forward to serving the great people of the Orlando area.
Dr. Gracyn Baldwin was first introduced to chiropractic when she was a baby. Her dad was a massage therapist who worked for a chiropractor and was adjusted regularly as a baby, but after that, she wasn't adjusted again until she started chiropractic school. The thought of chiropractic didn't cross her mind again until she was at a crossroads.
While at the University of Central Florida, she majored in Kinesiology, had a strong passion for anatomy, physiology, and biomechanics, and even became a teaching assistant for anatomy. This laid down a solid foundation to understand how the human body moves and functions. She was a senior and didn't know the next steps in life but knew she wasn't done furthering her education. After a long conversation with her academic advisor about different career opportunities, he mentioned chiropractic and told her to look into it. After looking into it, she toured the Palmer College of Chiropractic Florida campus in Daytona and fell in love.
Today, Dr. Baldwin is working to help as many people as possible with chiropractic care and help them achieve optimal health and wellness.
Outside of the office, Dr. Baldwin likes to spend time with friends, go to the gym, golf, travel, try new restaurants and experiences, and be out on the water. Dr. Baldwin's passion for health and wellness extends into her everyday life and encourages everyone around her to get out and keep moving because, as you'll hear her say, "motion is lotion."
