What to Expect

New to Chiropractic, What to Expect

If you've never been to a Chiropractor, you may be wondering what to expect during your first visit. Chiropractic care is the detection, localization and adjustment of vertebral subluxation in the spinal column. Subluxation is a term used to describe what occurs when vertebra are improperly aligned. This misalignment can cause pressure or interference within your nervous system. Because the nervous system controls every aspect of your body, misalignment can cause irreparable damage if it remains undetected or uncorrected.

In many cases, you might not even realize your spine is misaligned, because you may not be experiencing pain yet. But misalignments can lead to a gradual deterioration of your health and well-being. This is where your Chiropractor can help. By correcting subluxation and removing the interferences in your nervous system, your Chiropractor can help your body function more efficiently on all levels. And while pain often motivates people to seek the help of a Chiropractor, you do not have to be in pain or discomfort to benefit from Chiropractic adjustments. In fact, ongoing chiropractic care promotes your body's ability to self-heal and has been shown to decrease incidences of certain ailments and injuries, while helping you reach and maintain your optimal health.

A Healthy Perspective

Upon visiting The Joint for the first time, you will be provided a form which will help identify your health concerns, including any past or current medical conditions. The forms are always kept private and confidential, The Joint and its chiropractic practitioners adhere to all HIPPA regulations to protect your medical information.

The Doctor is In—No Appointment Necessary

Because pain can happen at any time, The Joint does not require that you schedule an appointment. So upon the completion of your paperwork, you will be seen by the doctor as soon as possible. Wait times are minimal, and most chiropractic treatments require only 10 minutes from the time you’re seen by the Chiropractor. Your comfort is important, so we encourage you to voice any and all concerns you might have. Disrobing is not necessary, though you should wear non-restricting clothing to make it easier to rest comfortably face-down on the chiropractic table. A typical chiropractic visit includes a health assessment by the doctor and treatment which is often done through spinal adjustment. Additional services may be offered at your local clinic, and will vary by location. You are always welcome to call in advance should you have more specific needs or concerns.
